I don't know but I thought I made a comment to your post late last night....great to hear from you Eileen. I finally figured out how to become a public follower...now do I get to put on my orange robe? Am I ready for celibacy yet? I don't think at my age it would make much of a difference.
In any case, in the post that I thought I posted--I recounted an anecdote about my visiting a Vietnamese student's home who had invited me for dinner. Every member of the family arrived in the living room from grandfather to baby and greeted me graciously and we all chatted (mostly in body language) and then it came time to eat. They put out all of this food in the middle of a coffee table in front of me and then walked away leaving me to sit by myself. When I motioned for them to come sit with me, they all laughed and told me to eat up. I never figured out why or what or how but your blog gave me the idea that it was an honorable gesture. At the time, I was uncomfortable but thought it was out of respect and yes, I didn't like eating alone.
You sound great and I love reading your blogs. You are one up on me. I love interacting with different cultures but within walking distance of the 7-11.....LOL.
Keep writing and I hope you find a mattress. How about ebay? Is there a fed-ex truck coming through the village once in a while?
